Beginning her career as a painter and illustrator, she has developed a practice that blends the rigour of fine art with the innovation of contemporary design, creating work that is both instinctively human and strikingly original. Her creative journey spans Scotland, the US and London, and her work is informed by a relentless curiosity and a joy in experimentation evident in the work she masterminds.
Trained at Edinburgh College of Art, Emily translated her artistic foundations into design through further study at Shillington School of Design. She refined her practice in the commercial sphere at Collagerie under Lucinda Chambers, mastering the seamless integration of craft, storytelling and strategy across digital platforms.
A rare blend of artistry, culture, and humanity characterises Emily’s work. She approaches brands and creative projects with the sensibility of an artist, believing that depth, narrative and cultural intelligence are what make ideas endure. In a world increasingly dominated by AI and automation, her creations place human experience at the centre, ensuring that every interaction feels alive, thoughtful, and memorable.
Her artistry has been celebrated through numerous awards and commissions, including Dinner Ladies, Talk Horse and Pomelo. Her work for Artful Appetite restaurant cards has further cemented her reputation as a designer who fuses art, craft and cultural intelligence in every project.
When not creating, Emily draws inspiration from the wild: she walks and hikes across the Scottish Highlands or America’s Great North Woods, infusing her work with a sense of scale, freedom, and perspective that is uniquely hers.
